I tried not to read any reviews of the book before I read it because I wanted to form my own opinion, but I'm afraid I mostly agreed with what I read afterwards. It's not a bad collection, just not as great as I wanted it to be. Raych: I'm glad you loved it! I think anyone who hasn't read much Sedaris will really enjoy it, it's just not enough for people who are familiar with his work. Sounds awesome, I'll like to yours when it gets posted -- enjoy your vacation! Becca: I know, I didn’t want to be disappointed either. My main criticism with it is that, for anyone who reads Sedaris regularly, most of it doesn't feel fresh. If you don't read him a lot though, most of it will feel new and I think the essay are generally pretty good. <i>Me Talk Pretty One Day</i> is pretty widely regarded as the best of his collections, so you could certainly start there.
