I read and reviewed this a few months ago here.

In response to the previous commenter, I'd say that reading Little Women first gives it a different depth. As Kim said in her review, the perspective of Marmee was completely different from March's perspective. The girls' perspective is different as well. I loved the contrast!

Becca: I don't think you need to have read Little Women to get the plot of March, but I think it does help give a better context for the novel. For example, I think the narrative switch in the middle is better knowing the story of Little Women because I could put that moment into what I remember about the plot, whereas by itself I don't know if it would be as effective. I wish that I had re-read Little Women before March, but I don't think it's absolutely necessary to get the story.

I've had this book checked out from my public library for more than a month now, but haven't started it. My fear is that I won't get it since I never read Little Women. So, my question to you: Should I read Little Women first, or is it still a good read if I haven't?
