BBAW Giveaways and Whatnot

by Kim on September 17, 2008 · 7 comments

There are a lot of giveaways going on for Book Blogger Appreciation Week, but the one I specifically want to tell you about is going on at Bookish Ruth.  She is giving away all four books in the Sally Lockhart series, a series that I love to pieces.  I was tempted not to mention it at all, since I want to win, but I get more entires if I do so I think it’ll work out.

Also, the topic Amy posted about today was called “Let’s Talk Blogging!” and asked to write about something you wished you knew when you started blogging, or a best blogging tip.  Since I’m a pretty new blogger — I started in May 2007 — I’m not sure if I have any good tips.  However, I wish I had know more about the book blogging community when I started.  I just waded around for awhile, reading random blogs I liked, until I found Weekly Geeks and went from there.  This isn’t really a big deal since I feel like I’m totally a part of it now, but it just wasn’t what I expected exactly.

As for blogging tips, I would say don’t be afraid to link to your blog all over the place; leave your links in comments, link to other reviews, and let people know you are around.  That’s the best way to find more blogs to read and to get more people to read your blog!

I agree! I love it when people post links in their comments to me … I others don’t mind when I do the same. :)

If you don’t link…no one will know you exist. :) Great tips!

Heather: Yeah, posting links isn’t something I started doing until recently, but I’m hoping it’s a good idea.

Amy: Thanks! I read your blogging tips and the linked pages and decided to join Technorati, great ideas :)

I agree – although I don’t know how to post a link in a comment to where it shows up as a link and not something you have to cut and paste. LOL

Making a link…one of the best tips I’ve ever gotten–and from another book blogger of course! Just go here to find out how to do it. It takes a few times, but now I have it memorized!

Kara: Yes, I always forget to do the link html and just paste it in.

Cathy: Thanks for the link!
