Sunday Salon: Papers!

The Sunday Salon.comI finally, finally finished all my classes last week!  I don’t have grades yet — final papers are still pending — but I feel pretty confident about how things are going on that front.  One of my papers is on book blogging and the book blogging community, so it’s actually been pretty interesting to write.  The other is a literary analysis of The Meadowlands by Robert Sullivan, which is also an easy paper to write because I loved that book.

If everything goes as planned, by Tuesday evening I should have every responsibility for the semester finished.  And you know what that means?  All the time in the world I want to read!

I have a ton of books in my possession to choose from.  I’m part way through Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer, I still have In Defense of Food and Villette from my Fall Into Reading 2008 list, A Wedding in December from my Secret Santa, and a whole shelf of other books I want to get too.  I just bought On Beauty by Zadie Smith, and got Love at Goon Park as an end-of-the-semester present from a professor.  I’m just not sure where to start, but I think the anticipation of choosing what book is coming next is part of the fun.

That’s all I’ve got for Sunday Salon today.  I’m still sick, still working on papers, and still wishing that I could read more.  But Tuesday all of that changes!  Well, except the being sick part.  I’ve been under the weather so long I’m convinced I’ll be sniffling until spring comes.  Ah well, c’est la vie.

I’d like to read your book blogging paper when you post it!

    Nice to see young book lovers… (I’m 61 :-))

Eva: Thanks! I’ll probably post the paper, or offer to e-mail it to anyone who is interested in reading it.

Louise: Well, they’ll be as brilliant as they can be while I’m souped up on cold medicine 🙂

Joel: Thanks — I’ll think about putting it up once I get it turned in. There are lots of young book lovers online these days, it’s pretty cool 🙂

You are so lucky to have finished all of your classes! I have three more days of final and then I am finished for three weeks! I would love to read your paper. How is Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close going? It’s one of my favorites. Have a great week and happy readings!

    Feel better!

Enjoy your fun reading! I’m still having trouble moving from end-of-semester madness into fun and relaxed reading. Maybe I’ll crack the spine on something today. I hope.

Vasilly: Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close is going pretty well. I keep reading it in short little chunks, but I feel like it’s the sort of book I should just sit down and read straight through in order to get it better. I love Oskar though, he’s one of the most adorable narrators.

    Sheri: Thanks 🙂

Andi: I have one paper hanging over my head that makes me feel guilty whenever I sit down to read for fun. But once that is done, I’m home free!
