The Sunday Salon: Late!

The Sunday Salon.comYesterday I spent the morning with my family celebrating Easter and the afternoon on a five hour bus trip back to Madison, so no time for a Sunday Salon. I did have a fabulous reading week, however, and wanted to write a little bit about that this morning before school takes hold.

Lu at Regular Rumniation wrote about how April is the month school goes crazy, and while I initially wasn’t sure if I agreed with her, I’ve since changed my mind: April is the worst month on the calendar. I have 25 days left in the semester in which to get done more things than I think is possible.Β It’s looking like a slog through until the end.

I wanted to do homework on the bus to try and get ahead a little bit, but that just didn’t happen. Instead, I finished The Hours by Michael Cunningham, finished The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down by Anne Fadiman, and started The Memory Keeper’s Daughter by Kim Edwards (a recommendation from Sister).

I’ve now got quite a few reviews to write. I have a goal to post one review a week, and by finishing those books it looks like I can meet that goal through the end of the semester even if I don’t finish any more books. I’ll be reviewing The Hours using reader-submitted questions, so stop by that link if there is something you’d like to know about the book.Β  The Spirit Catches You and You Fall Down was one of the most mesmerizing and frustrating (in a good way) books I’ve read in a long time, so that’ll be fun to review too.

This week doesn’t look too bad, homework-wise, but I hope to be responsible and get ahead on some of my big projects due at the end of the semester. Saturday is also the 24 Hour Read-a-Thon, so head on over to the blog and sign up to read or cheerlead! I’ll be hosting a mini-challenge related to comic books from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m. CST, so at least stop by to read about that πŸ™‚

Have a wonderful week everyone (and good luck to all the other students out there πŸ™‚ )!

Good luck with your studies and the Read-a-Thon

I have also found out that it is very useful to have reviews ready on the computer sometimes πŸ™‚
And over the last few weeks I have also learned to have other short posts ready for busy days (teachers also work hard now and then).
It is interesting to see how many bloggers suddenly write posts about commenting, however – somehow it seems to be a world wide fad right now πŸ˜‰

Ah…university days…the exhilaration, the sleep deprivation, the extreme stress….Good times! Glad to hear your semester will be done soon.
