I don’t know a lot about anchor text either, to be honest. That’s why I’m relying on the articles this week.

I think “click here” is good when your blog doesn’t do a lot to distinguish links from regular text. But if the links are clear (they’re a different color or have underlines or something) then most people should know to click on stuff?

But perhaps not if you’re that old

Yes, that’s a great tip. I’ve been trying to do that more recently, but it can be very time consuming. I want to keep that in mind for a future activity though, it’s a good habit to get into as well.

Yes, as I was writing this topic I remembered how often you mention this!

Thanks for the tips about Google Webmasters. I’m not sure if those work with blogs that aren’t self-hosted (a lot of the cool things don’t which is why I want to switch). I agree though, good anchor text is a good habit to have.

Fascinating! I did not know what anchor text meant until I clicked over to your wiki explanation (thank you) and I only add that I like to use the ‘click HERE’ because my 91 yo reader needs the visual clue and instruction. Thank you to Pam, too, for clarifying this more.
