ok, my HS list is up.
I wish I could remember where I read a similar post and the ‘other’ HS had a ton of classics to read – it was for the upcoming school year and not just summer… If I find it, I’ll come back. sigh.

I want to read the EW Top 100 too, although I haven’t been being very methodical about it. I just check the list randomly and find that I’ve read something else on it.

Now that I’m past page 200, I’m liking IJ more and more. I feel like I’m missing a ton of what is going on, but if I took the time to look up all the words I don’t know and ponder every strange passage, I’d never finish. Good luck with the slog!

I am such a suck for these lists. I am going to read EW’s Top 100 if it kills me.

Also, I’m only on p. 130 or so of Infinte Jest, and I am faithfully slogging. I will take heed of your warning and not expect MIND-BLOWINGNESS on p. 223. I am liking it more than I thought I would.

That would be a fun list. I’d love to know what they’re telling high school kids to read today. I’m curious which “classics” I was told to read have been abandoned, and which new books they’ve replaced them with. You should post about it or post the link if you find one.

I saw the BBC list when I was looking, but didn’t put it on my list since it seemed old. But, it’s a good one. And Rory’s book club, how could I forget that!
