SNL’s “Firelight”

I’m behind with this, but it was too funny not to post. Last week SNL did a digital short mocking something I dislike, Twilight, using something I do like, Frankenstein. Hilarious!

My only quibble is that the big green guy isn’t actually Frankenstein; Frankenstein is the scientist, the green guy is The Monster. Can we try to be accurate next time, SNL, to stop perpetuating common literary misconceptions?

Dude, that is hilarious. Passing this one on to quite a few people.

    Bill Hader is dreamy.

I think they used Frankenstein instead of Frankenstein’s monster just to fit with the rhythm of the Twilight reveal scene. This is hilarious, I saw it a few days ago.

The Literary Omnivore: Yeah, I get the rhythm thing. And it was probably easier to just say “Frankenstein,” since not a lot of people outside bookish folks make the distinction between scientist and monster. But of course I think everyone should — it’s a literary pet peeve 🙂

Hilarious and totally made my day. Have you seen the bit Craig Ferguson does with the J.K. Rowling Show? There’s one where someone plays Stephenie Meyer. Totally priceless.

Rebecca: I have not seen that. I like Craig Freguson a lot though; I’m going to go find it!

Great one! And I don’t think people will EVER get it right about who is Frankenstein and who is not. Oh, well.

    Choking? By accident? LOVES IT.

I’m not a big fan of the whole Twilight thing either. My husband told me about this the day after it aired and we had a lot of fun laughing at it! Some of the SNL shorts are simply hilarious. And I love Craig Ferguson, too–never get to watch him, but on the rare occasion I do, I don’t regret it!

Mindy: The Digital Shorts are some of my favorite parts of the show. They’re a little hit and miss, but the ones that hit are just great.

    That was great!
