I’ve been really burned out on blog reading that last few weeks. Particularly over my Christmas vacation (which ended yesterday, boo), I felt overwhelmed every time I sat down tried to catch up. Does that ever happen to you?
As I’ve eased back into things, I’ve been reading some posts that have really inspired me to dive back into all of the blog reading I’ve neglected because f I didn’t read blogs, or at least make the attempt, I would have missed some of these insightful and funny posts. Here are some of the great ones, in no particular order:
I love to crochet but don’t have any current projects, so when write meg! posted about the Red Scarf Project, I got excited to pull out my yarn and get crafting.
Rebecca at The Book Lady’s Blog wrote about her love for book extras like introductions and footnotes. I love those too!
I haven’t thought much about this issue but both Amy (My Friend Amy) and Eva (A Striped Armchair) wrote beautiful posts about the importance of race, reading, and discussion. I’m not sure how I’ll be changing my reading or blogging habits in response to their posts, but I really want to try. Steph also wrote a comment to Eva’s post about positive discrimination that I think is equally well-put and important to consider.
When you write your reviews, how much do you reveal about the plot? Is the point to convince people to read the book or write a review to discuss your feelings on a book with people who have already read it? These are two great questions posted by Kerrie at Mysteries in Paradise where she asks about personal principles in book reviewing.
What about books in a series — can you read just one? Does it bug you when you grab the third book in a series not knowing there are two books before it. Tracie (Yule Time Reading) wrote about this particular bookish pet peeve, and I thought it was quite funny!
Similarly, Teresa at Shelf Love wrote about how she finds time to read. Her responses were almost identical to what I say to people when they ask me the same questions.
And finally, Fyrefly at Fyrefly’s Book Blog took issue with the Twilightization of the English canon. Amen, sister!
I know there are more great posts that I missed, but these are just a few that caught my eye. And a big thank you to all the book bloggers out there — without being inspired by all of your thoughtful and amazing posts, I’m not sure I’d be inspired to keep writing my own as frequently or as much love as I do now. You’re all awesome.

Meg: I made my mom a blanket a couple years ago, and that’s the last big crochet project I worked on. I hope I find time to do a couple of red scarves for the project.

I’m amazed at how long your break was! Even though it’s sad it had to come to an end, I know you got tons of great reading done during it, so that’s something to be thankful for. Unfortunately I’ve been back at school for two weeks already!
Steph: It was pretty long, December 23 – January 18. That was about the same length as my sister’s, but maybe it is long. I can’t believe you’ve been at school so long already!

Andi: Eva and Amy were great. I loved how honest they were about their feelings, and all the great comments the two posts have generated. It’s such an interesting discussion to have.
Oh I’ve so been feeling like that since Christmas. I had to clear out my feedreader for even my favourite of blogs because I was overwhelmed. I want to read Eva’s post now, if it’s as good as Amy.
Jodie: I did a bunch of “mark all as read” clicks over break. Sometimes I just needed to not have a million posts staring back at me in my reader!
