Personal Read-a-Bloggiesta-Thon

In the last month I’ve missed two of my favorite blogging community events — the Bloggiesta and the Read-a-Thon.

I had big plans to participate in both, but then a few days before the Bloggeista my grandpa was unexpectedly hospitalized. He’s been in and out of the hospital since then, so I’ve been home with my family more often than normal. He’s doing much better, but it was pretty scary for awhile. We didn’t know how well he was going to recover, physically or mentally, or if he’d ever really be able to go home. But it sounds like he’s coming home from the transitional care facility tomorrow and we’re just going to see how it goes from there.

Anyway, that’s not really the point of this post. The boyfriend got scheduled to work 18 hours this weekend — 12 today, six tomorrow — and the weather outside is frightful, so I decided to make this my own personal Read-a-Thon and Bloggiesta weekend.

I don’t have a particular pile of books to consider like I would for a regular Read-a-Thon, but it would be nice to get through two or three of the books I have for review in May:

  • Women From the Ankle Down by Rachelle BergsteinFinished!
  • The Year of the Gadfly by Jennifer MillerFinished!
  • The Uninvited Guests by Sadie Jones

Or maybe something totally random off my personal TBR piles, that’s what Read-a-Thon’s are for, really.

I wrote an epically long To Do pile for the Bloggiesta, but of course I’m not going to try and get to everything. I came up with a shorter list for this weekend:

  • Catch up on commentsFinally! Someone remind me not to get so far behind again…
  • Update review archiveHOORAY!
  • Update WordPressFinished!
  • Update ThesisFinished! This is always so scary, but it went smoothly thanks to the really good, detailed instructions on the Thesis theme website.
  • Add Goodreads Reading Challenge widgetFinished!
  • Write April BAND postFinished!
  • Review: The Monsters of Templeton Gushing review, done!
  • Review: Complications
  • Review: City of Scoundrels
  • Review: Winged Obsession — Finished!
  • Review: The Chaperone — Finished!
  • Review: The Reading Promise — Finished!
  • ADDED: Review: Women From the Ankle Down
  • ADDED: Review: The Year of the Gadfly
  • ADDED: Install Editorial Calendar pluginDone!
Yeah… that’s still pretty aggressive. But, a girl’s got nothing if she doesn’t have goals. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I’m going to go finish getting ready for official starting time of 12 p.m. Have a great Saturday!

Great plan for the weekend! I’m glad your grandpa is doing a bit better.

Thanks, me too. It’s made everyone in my family feel a lot better.

Ok, I just saw that you were reading (or read Wild) but now I don’t remember who said that. Maybe Capricious Reader? Anyway, I’m hoping you liked it as it’s my f2f book club’s pick for May but I know NOTHING about it (other than premise).

I hope that your grandpa gains his strength soon.

I did read Wild, it was awesome. I hope that you like it!

You’re doing great! Keep it up.
