Who In the World Are You Reading With?

Who In the World Are You Reading With? post image

This is my first time participating in Trish, KailanaLisa’s really fun monthly topic, Where in the World Are You Reading? Each month, one of these lovely ladies posts a monthly theme about our reading lives. The topic for November is “Reading Companions,” which seemed like the perfect opportunity to post some photos of my most popular family member, Hannah.

As you can see, Hannah does not not always appear to love having her picture taken. If she were a teenager, I’d imagine her saying, “Seriously, Mom. Knock it off with the photos! You are such a dork.” I snapped this one yesterday night after I put down Angelmaker to grab some dinner and she proceeded to take over my chair because, I suspect, it was nice and warm.

But, Hannah doesn’t always appear that persnickety. This is one of my favorite photos of her because she just looks so goofy! However, if you were to go over there and start rubbing her tummy, she’d coil up like a spring and start biting your hand — beware of the cute kitten.

Although Hannah doesn’t often join me while I read — she frequently has better things to do than sit on my lap all day — she does love my bookshelves.

My favorite thing about this photo is the way she’s just chilling up there, not a care in the world, since she knows I can’t get to her to try and pick her up or pet her. This photo was taken in our old house, where she had a pretty clear path from the floor up to that bookshelf. Things are arranged a little differently in the new house, and I don’t think she can get up as high anymore. Poor cat.

So there you have it, a gratuitous post of cat pictures for your Sunday. I’m hoping that I can get some blogging done today and finish Angelmaker — I’ve only got about 150 pages left, which I think I can squeeze in this morning before football kicks off at noon. Happy Sunday!

Aw, Hannah is a beauty. I need a new reading buddy. :/

    • Kim November 18, 2012, 4:31 pm

She is a pretty cat, if awfully persnickety 🙂

  • Meghan November 18, 2012, 11:29 am

Hannah is definitely a gorgeous cat! I’d love a reading buddy of my own, but no cats for us just yet.

    • Kim November 18, 2012, 4:31 pm

I wish she spent more time reading with me, but she mostly prefers to do her own thing until she is cold and wants to sit on my lap because it is warm.

  • Diane@BibliophilebytheSea November 18, 2012, 1:21 pm

    Hannah is adorable!

Sorry I haven’t visited lately; I’ve been too busy to blog much.

    • Kim November 18, 2012, 4:32 pm

No apologies necessary, we all get busy!

  • Jeanne November 18, 2012, 2:17 pm

You’ve certainly made me beam today! Photos of your beautiful cat AND you’re reading Angelmaker!

    • Kim November 18, 2012, 4:32 pm

Angelmaker is a lot of fun! I read like 300 pages yesterday and loved every minute. I’m hoping to finish today, but we’ll see how the evening goes.

I so miss my cat, Kali, who died last year. She was a wonderful reading companion, always curled up with me, rubbing her face on my books. she even bit a few if I ignored her too long lol. My new cat is either running at full speed or sound asleep. Maybe when she gets older we can read together 🙂 Your cat is so cute.

    • Kim November 20, 2012, 7:34 pm

Hannah is much more like your cat now — either very busy, or off sleeping somewhere quiet. But she’s quite young still, so maybe she will mellow out with age 🙂

  • Ellie November 19, 2012, 4:28 am

Awww, she’s lovely! Also, my sister’s name is Hannah, which clearly makes her doubly awesome. I have two cats, Millie and Domino, but it’s Domino who’s really my reading ‘companion’. I use the term loosely, because much of the time this involves paddling on my knee while I’m trying to read, diving between the pages of an open book, and running off with my bookmark because the tassle was looking at her funny. When she finally settles down, however, she’s really quite a sweet reading buddy. 🙂

Doesn’t it seem like cats know exactly what to do to be disruptive when they want your attention? Sounds adorable though.

  • Charlie November 19, 2012, 10:16 am

Gorgeous cat! My dog would sit with me when I’m reading, but as attention is more important than reading to a dog I can’t say I read much. I haven’t heard of Angelmaker, but the title has me interested.

Hannah is such a pretty kitty! I’m a dog person (cat allergy), but I still love a great cat pic, and these are fantastic. 🙂

  • Stephanie November 19, 2012, 6:24 pm

    Hannah is a lovely cat.

  • Jenny November 19, 2012, 8:12 pm

She’s beautiful! And yeah, in that first picture, she looks like she’s plotting your demise. But hopefully that is illusory.

    • Kim November 20, 2012, 7:37 pm

I think she always looks like she is plotting when I take pictures of her. It must just be her face, since she hasn’t made any assassination attempts yet.

  • Jennifer November 20, 2012, 9:54 am

Awww, hello Hannah 🙂 I love cats! We have 3, 2 males and a female. Our youngest, George O’Malley Cat, loves to sit ON my book when I try to read. 😉

  • Nikki Steele November 20, 2012, 10:03 am

She’s absolutely adorable! And cat photos are why the internet exists right? Love them!

I just started Gone Away World by Harkaway so glad to see that you enjoyed his next one!

    • Kim November 20, 2012, 7:38 pm

I just finished Angelmaker yesterday — it was great! I want to read Gone Away World sometime soon.

  • Erin November 23, 2012, 11:07 pm

Beautiful cat! Looks like she enjoys the books..and the shelves with them

  • Kailana November 24, 2012, 11:58 am

Cute post! When Casey is laying like that it is usually the worst time to pet her, too. She’s smart… ‘I will look cute, they will be lulled into a false sense of security, and then the claws will come out… Silly humans!’ lol

    • Kim November 28, 2012, 5:56 pm

At least it’s not just my cat who is super devious!

  • Lisa November 24, 2012, 6:25 pm

I love that white streak down her nose, gives her such personality.

  • Uniflame November 26, 2012, 7:27 am

Your cat looks so funny! Love it!

  • Christine November 28, 2012, 12:33 pm

Aw Hannah is such a pretty cat! After seeing her perched on top of your bookshelves, I’m so surprised our cats have never attempted that!

I swear my cats associate books on a chair or bed as cuddle time–if they see a book they’ll lay next to or on top if it just because they know I’m not far behind. 😉

  • Melissa November 30, 2012, 10:16 am

She is adorable! I love that she’s guarding your books.

  • Trish November 30, 2012, 12:32 pm

Hannah is gorgeous gorgeous!! The posts this month made me miss my cat Maggie who was pretty good about snuggling with me when I wanted her to, especially come readathon times. Though she’d try to chop my hand if I’d rub her belly like Hannah does to you. Glad you joined us this month!

    • Kim December 3, 2012, 8:58 pm

Hannah does not appreciate being cuddled. She only likes to cuddle on her terms 🙂
