image Time //  8:30 a.m.

Place // On the couch in my sister’s apartment in Minneapolis (change of location!)

Eating // Easter candy, the breakfast of champions

Drinking // Off-brand black tea

Reading // Despite making a list of books I want to read RIGHT NOW, I ended up reading something entirely different: The Outsourced Self by Arlie Russell Hochschild. I also want to start reading The Round House which I am going to have to return to the library really soon.

Watching // I didn’t watch much of anything this week. I went with some friends to see The Croods, which I enjoyed. My sister and I also watched the first half of the BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice last night. I think we’re going to try to finish it this morning before we head to my grandma’s for Easter dinner (we’re not a religious bunch, so Easter is mostly about food and family for us).

Listening // I got bored with Outlander this week (I know, I know) so I started listening to a short nonfiction audiobook, Contagious: Why Things Catch On by Jonah Berger. It’s fun, so far, and a nice change of pace from the epic fantasy/romance audiobooks I’ve been listening to.

Promoting // I loved this post from Jenn (The Picky Girl) about a reader’s responsibility in which she argues, basically, that a reader’s only responsibility in this whole big publishing monstrosity is to read. Not to buy or promote or tweet or review, just to read. I loved it. Go read it.

Enjoying // The discussions that are happening in Book Bloggers Do It Better, a Google+ community organized by Becca (Lost in Books) and co-moderated by Byran (unfinished person), are fantastic. If you’re a book blogger, I encourage you to check it out.

Loving // The almost, kinda, maybe spring weather! It’s still not warm, by any stretch, but I did get to walk around outside yesterday without a winter jacket — that’s progress!

Wanting // The warm weather to continue! My sister and I went shopping yesterday and, in the flush of not reezing temperatures, I almost bought myself some new sandals. We’re so close.

Anticipating // Easter dinner, time with family, cuddles with my sister’s kitten, and more Pride and Prejudice.

Happy Easter, everyone! What are you reading today?

Contagious sounds really interesting – I can’t wait to see what you think of it. Happy Easter!

It’s a really quick listen. I think I’ll finish it today and have a review sometime next week.

I love that post by Jenn, too. It’s so good and something I’ve thought about a lot. It’s been very spring-like weather here and I’ve finally ditched my winter coat for a lighter one. FINALLY we can stop complaining about the snow on gchat? I hope I didn’t just jinx it.

    • Kim April 1, 2013, 2:42 pm

It’s just one of those things that it’s nice to be reminded of once in awhile. All we have to do is read.

It got cold again today (ice on my windshield!), so we’re not quite done complaining yet.

Happy Easter, Kim! I got sick, unfortunately and am unable to participate in the festivities… 57 degrees, though. I hope the first week of April is nice!

    • Kim April 1, 2013, 2:42 pm

Aww, that sucks! I hope you are feeling better.

  • Jenny March 31, 2013, 4:42 pm

I’m actually reading Pride and Prejudice right now! Because I’ve just gotten through watching all of The Lizzie Bennet Diaries and it made me feel fond of Pride and Prejudice and now that I’m rereading it, I’m finding it even more delightful and awesome than I remembered it being. (I truly am not a fan of the BBC adaptation. SCANDAL, I know, but I don’t care for Jennifer Ehle.)

    • Kim April 1, 2013, 2:44 pm

I got excited to read P&P (for the first time) because of the Lizzie Bennet Diaries. The sister and I were obsessed with LBD, which is why we also watched the BBC version. I will be all P&P’d out by the time this week is over.

Realizing//I ate no chocolate today. I will rectify this NOW

    • Kim April 1, 2013, 2:44 pm

Sad! I didn’t get any Peeps today, which seems like an Easter faux pas.

  • Charlie April 1, 2013, 5:04 am

I liked that adaptation, the way there was enough time to include pretty much all of it. Our Easter was basically a meal too, it’s nice to have a (if smaller-scale) version of Christmas lunch. Loved Jenn’s post, and as for the weather, it does look like there’s a possibility it’ll get better (best say possibility than get too excited…).

    • Kim April 1, 2013, 2:45 pm

Yes, our Easter meal is a smaller version of Christmas, but still a wonderful time with family. I thought the weather was improving, but then it was freezing again today… come on, spring!

  • Jennifer April 1, 2013, 7:01 am

It sounds like you had a great Easter! Mmmm, candy 😉 I really enjoyed Jenn’s post. No guilty readers darn it! I wish the weather would make a turn around here. No such luck 🙁 It snowed yesterday and it’s FREEZING today. Have a great week!

    • Kim April 1, 2013, 2:45 pm

It’s freezing here today too. I’ll be glad when the weather finally turns!

  • jennygirl April 1, 2013, 11:04 am

Sounds like the perfect day to me: family, chocolate, and P&P.
    Have a great week 🙂

    • Kim April 1, 2013, 2:46 pm

It was wonderful! Same to you.

  • Andi @ Estella's Revenge April 1, 2013, 2:24 pm

Tooootally stole your format today. From Heather who stole it first.

I’m also enjoy Book Bloggers Do It Better. It feels like a throwback to Yahoo! Groups from back in the day. That was the original way I came into a bookish community. Good memories. 🙂

    • Kim April 1, 2013, 2:49 pm

Format stealing is welcomed (especially for this, which I adapted/stole from someone else at some point along the line).

Book Bloggers Do It Better reminds me a little bit of the Book Bloggers Ning group, too, before it got overrun with spamming people.

  • jenn aka the picky girl April 1, 2013, 7:14 pm

Thanks so much for promoting my post! It’s not often that I get up in arms like that, but when I do, I just can’t hold it in.

And thanks for introducing me to Book Bloggers Do It Better. How did I not know it existed? I love both those guys. Off to check it out!

    • Kim April 3, 2013, 7:40 pm

I feel the same way — when you gotta rant, you gotta rant!

  • Joanna April 3, 2013, 8:20 am

That BBC adaptation is fantastic, isn’t it? So much better than the movie!

    • Kim April 3, 2013, 7:41 pm

I honestly can’t remember the movie, which is saying something since I watched it not too long ago.
